Recently purchased ANOTHER R/C, this time a truck. To be specific, an Axial SCX-10 Trail Honco off road/rock crawler truck. Will post some pics once it arrives next week...
But besides the R/C and Tails madness, I am going back to one of my older designs... The F-31 Tomcat II. The revival of my F-31 program will be based off of the glorious awesomeness that is my F-56 Magnum land based interceptor. The new F-31 will take much of the F-56's structure up front, such as the nose, engine intakes, and cockpit, but will combine them with a new wing layout: Swing Wings
Will also gain conventional tail surfaces and twin vertical stabilizers, canted outward of course. Will retain the canards of F-56 though. The base of the vertical fin on the F-56 will be shaved down somewhat, and the tail radome enlarged. Engine layout and spacing will remain the same, as will the engines themselves. The dual chin pod will also change into a single aperture design to reduce drag and complexity.
If any of you are wondering why I chose F-56 as a base, it is because I sorta see passive stealth as a dead end, and F-56 contains an extensive EW suite, one more capable than an E/A-18G Growler. I figure if you can jam, deceive, hack, and HPM most things fired at you, stealth would be sorta useless anyway. On top of that being in an extremely agile platform with very high performance and a large amount of long range AAM's, I don't think the new F-31 will have much to fear short of my own F-58 Hammer lol...
Anyway expect a WIP pic of this aircraft in the coming days.
