Description
The C-50A Titan is an ultra heavy lift transport designed for both military and civilian needs. It is capable of transporting up to 1,145 tons of cargo ranging from oversized heavy equipment like mobile cranes, to M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks. Like other large transport aircraft, it utilizes a roller based floor to allow for easy loading and unloading of palletized cargo. It also is capable of handling intermodal shipping containers, which allows for unprecedented versatility for such a large platform.
It has strategic range when used as a military transport, which allows it to carry nearly ship-like payloads Trans-Atlantic or Trans-Pacific. Due to the immense size of the aircraft, it is limited to only airfields with at least 250 ft wide runways and reinforced taxiways. It also requires a 10,000 ft runway length. Overall ground pressure is comparable to heavy lift aircraft such as the Boeing 747-8F, Antonov An-225, and the now cancelled Airbus A380F.
